I grew up in a huge family. There were six of us kids and by the time I was five there were 5 spouses of us kids and several children plus aunts and uncles and great aunts and my Poppa…
Traditions abounded…and it was controlled chaos.
I am married to a man who loves control…without the chaos…however we are embracing our vanillaness remember?? So currently? Master and I, our teen, His son Li along with his wife and four boys and three spouses and five grandchildren and mom and several cousins and aunts and nieces and nephews and friends…the age range is barely 3 months up to mom’s brother who is 89…quiet calm amidst the chaos.
At Christmas dinner there were 29 of us…prime rib, a goose and ham, potatoes, home made rolls, green bean casserole, yam souffle, corn on the cob, asparagus, two different green salads, double layer pumpkin cheesecake, berry cobbler, apple pie with cheddar cheese slices, and so much more…we ate forever and still had leftovers. Master did the prime rib on the bbq and it was heaven…
Of course we arrived at stupid o’clock. The concert was amazing as always – it’s a candle light service and it is one of my most favorite nights…we left from the concert for the airport and fortunately I live in a tiny part of the world and the weather was clear so that plane was on time. We had rebooked our tickets so as not to have to deal with changing flights once we left San Francisco and for just 100.00 more per ticket we flew first class – heaven when you are exhausted and when your husband and child are both in excess of 6′4″…
No snow here in Ohio but it seems if my son’s flight can get in to Denver he will have lots of snow in Aspen…Master has something planned for New Year’s but I know not what…I do know that we are alone as of the 29th…
Our little Annah is coming home on January 19th…we saw their Christmas video last night and it was so sweet. They are going to Wuhan today to meet members of her family…a bittersweet time to be sure.
Master is calling so I will be back later…
Wow sounds like a great christmas. Do you mind sharing your recipe for your yam souffle? I would love to try it.
